Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is an annual global event that highlights and celebrates the contributions of youth to their communities through volunteer service.
During Global Youth Service Day, youth around the world organize community service projects to address the needs of their local communities through service, to be recognized for their contributions, and to be a part of a global youth service movement.
GYSD offers a way for local, national and international organizations to:
BUILD the capacity of an international network of organizations that promotes youth participation, service and learning;
EDUCATE the public, the media and policy-makers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders around the world;
MOBILIZE youth and adults to meet the needs of their communities through volunteering; and
LEARN and share effective practices in youth service, youth voice and civic engagement in the world today.
Each April, millions of young people participate in and lead service projects, working with their families, schools, community organizations, faith-based communities, and businesses, to improve their communities by addressing critical issues such as global climate change, education & illiteracy, poverty, health, hunger and homelessness.
“The concept of sensitizing the top 15% of achievers toward social responsibility is a humane concept. These individuals are the decision makers of the future. Golden Key infuses morality, a balanced approach between individual ambitions and corporate social responsibility and prepares these top performers to act in the interest of all humanity. Practical experience during the student years infuses that spirit of compassion and caring in these future statesmen of our continent.”
